Basic Board & Train

Our Basic Board & Train program is renowned as our top-choice training option. It offers your dog an immersive training experience, establishing a robust foundation for a lifetime of obedience. Tailored for minor behavioral issues and reinforcing essential commands, this program covers vital skills like leash manners, attentive heeling, and prompt responses to commands such as 'sit' and 'down.' Moreover, it's designed to instill core behaviors, including the ability to retreat to a designated 'place' at home when guests arrive.

But the benefits don't stop there. We're committed to empowering you as the owner throughout the process. We'll meet with you several times during your dog's stay and conduct a thorough return session with you and your family, ensuring you're equipped to maintain and reinforce your dog's training long after the program ends. Plus, our ongoing support means we'll stay connected to monitor progress and provide complimentary refresher training if needed.

Advanced Board & Train

Our Advanced Board & Train program works wonders, but it's not suited for every dog. It's specially designed to achieve off-leash capabilities, allowing dogs to accompany you anywhere from downtown Greenville to parks and breweries. This program is ideal for addressing severe behavioral issues like serious bite cases, major leash reactivity, separation anxiety, litter mate syndrome, and disorders hindering learning abilities. While many may think their dog needs this advanced program, often the Basic Board & Train is sufficient. Anything offered in the Basic Board & Train program will also be offered here.

Puppy Board & Train

Our Puppy Board & Train program is tailored specifically for puppies. We designed it to provide an affordable solution for dog owners navigating puppy training and socialization—two crucial pillars in every dog's development. Without proper potty training, you may face persistent issues with urine and feces for months or even years. Likewise, inadequate socialization can lead to fearfulness toward other dogs, humans, or the environment, potentially escalating into aggression and causing a host of problems in the future.

  • 2 weeks long

  • For puppies 12 weeks to 18 weeks old.

  • Your dog must have these shots before coming: Rabies, 1st & 2nd Parvo shots, Bordetella.

  • Primary Focus: Potty training, proper socialization to other dogs, humans and the environment, proper kennel use, and nipping.

  • Secondary Focus: Introduction to the leash, proper ways to play with other dogs and introduction to: Sit, Place, Down, Come, Heel.

  • If your dog hasn't mastered our primary focus, we'll extend their stay at no extra cost.

So... Why Choose Us?

Amidst the allure of flashy websites and expensive ads, it's easy to overlook what truly matters: effective dog training that lasts. At Guiding Canines, our commitment is to deliver tangible results for our clients. What does that entail? It means crafting a tailored training plan designed specifically for your dog's unique needs. It means regular meetings to discuss progress and engage in practice sessions at various stages of training. While some may cut corners, we pride ourselves on consistency, taking your dog out into public daily and conducting multiple training sessions each day. Did you know that many other trainers opt for minimal interaction, confining your dog to a kennel for most of the day and providing limited training time? We believe in going the extra mile to ensure your dog's success. At Guiding Canines:

  • Your dog trains several times a day and receives ample exercise.

  • If we miscalculate how long your dog needs for their board & train, we will keep them longer at no extra charge, unlike other training companies that almost always charge more money for their mistakes.

  • You will receive free training for life after your board and train.

  • Your dog will train out in public and in my house every day.

  • We meet with you several times during your dog's board and train.

  • Our return session is not just a drop-off; it is a private seminar focused on your family and your dog.

  • We teach your entire family how to train your dog, even your kids.

Find The Perfect Plan For Your Dog

  1. Book A Phone Consult- We will discuss your situation in depth to determine what path forward would best fit your needs and budget.

  2. Meet Me For An In Person Consultation - Consultations typically last 90 minutes. If you opt for a Board & Train, the consultation is free and shorter. If you choose Private Sessions and later decide on a Board & Train, the consultation fee will be deducted from the total cost. Consultation fee is $100.

  3. Determine Your Start Date - In some cases, a single consultation may resolve your issue, while others may require additional private sessions or a single board and train to address your concerns. This can easily be predicted from a free phone call, so go ahead and setup a phone consult at no cost to you.

You May Be Experiencing These Problems

  • Pulling on the leash, possibly dragging you to the ground.

  • Redirecting aggression while on leash, such as biting you.

  • Destructive behavior at home, like tearing up furniture, kennels, blinds, trash, doors, pillows, etc.

  • Barking or growling at people in public.

  • Showing aggression by wanting to bite strangers.

  • Aggressive behavior towards guests.

  • Not responding to commands.

  • Jumping on you, strangers, or guests.

  • Aggressive towards other dogs.

After Your Board & Train Experience

  • Walking calmly on the leash without pulling, In a heel next to you.

  • Exhibiting no aggression while on leash.

  • Being well-behaved and not destructive at home.

  • Remaining quiet and calm around people in public.

  • Showing friendliness towards strangers.

  • Being welcoming and non-aggressive towards guests.

  • Responding promptly and obediently to commands.

  • Not jumping on you, strangers, or guests.

  • Being friendly and non-aggressive towards other dogs.

How It Works

Our Board & Train Programs are currently running out of my home. This is better than a facility because your dog will always be in a realistic environment. Your dog will learn boundaries by not allowing them into certain areas or onto certain things without permission. They will learn not to enter the kitchen unless given permission, will not jump on furniture unless invited, and will not bolt out of doorways. Because they will be in my home for long periods, these boundaries will be enforced repeatedly throughout the program, making it easier for you once they are home. They will also be taken into pet-friendly places to fine-tune their distraction training on a daily basis. This includes places like Home Depot, Petco, Tractor Supply, parks, and restaurants. They will also accompany me on pack walks to get proper socialization with other dogs and sometimes come with me to my private training sessions as a demo dog.

*After the first week of the program, you will receive pictures and videos of your dog showing their progress*

When the program has finished, your dog will be returned to you at your home with a goody basket that includes: a dog cot, training tools, a new leash, a collar, and a treat pouch. Be ready to learn on the return; this is when all of our training will be explained, and you will be taught how to perform the training yourself.

We Are Dedicated

At Guiding Canines, our dedication to dog training is a deeply ingrained value, driven by our belief that every dog deserves a fulfilling life and every owner deserves the joy of a well-trained companion.

Our journey began with a realization: the current training industry often prioritizes profits over genuine care. We set out to create a sanctuary where compassion, expertise, and integrity intersect, prioritizing dogs' needs and empowering owners to build lasting bonds. Our commitment to excellence extends beyond training sessions, as we provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure your dog's continued success.

  • Complimentary Refresher Sessions: We offer free sessions after a Board & Train program, to reinforce your dog's skills and address reemerging behavior issues, ensuring their continued success.

  • Transparent Communication: Regular updates, including videos and pictures, keep you informed and involved, fostering trust in our services.

  • Ongoing Assistance: Your success as a dog owner is our ultimate goal, and we're committed to supporting you every step of the way. Even after our formal training sessions have concluded, we'll remain actively engaged in your dog's development, providing ongoing guidance, encouragement, and practical advice to ensure that your bond with your furry friend continues to grow stronger with each passing day.

  • We Train The Whole Family: we prioritize training the entire family to become confident dog handlers. From wives and husbands to grandparents and children, we'll ensure that everyone in your household is equipped with the skills needed to support your dog's success.

Join us at Guiding Canines and embark on a journey of discovery, growth, and transformation. Together, we'll unlock the full potential of your dog and forge a lifelong partnership built on trust, respect, and unconditional love.
